The Lucy Parsons Workers’ Center is an effort by volunteer organizers to empower working people in their workplace and housing struggles. By building working class solidarity through direct action and democratic methods, we seek to create a space where people can solve their problems with bosses and landlords without appealing to government or charity help.

The Lucy Center is an affiliate of the Chicago Branch of the Industrial Workers of the World. The IWW is a member-run union for all workers, a union dedicated to organizing on the job, in our industries and in our communities. IWW members are organizing to win better conditions today and build a world with economic democracy tomorrow. We want our workplaces run for the benefit of workers and communities rather than for a handful of bosses and executives.

Is the Lucy Center right for you?

The Lucy Parsons Workers’ Center is committed to defending the right to fair treatment in our homes and on the job. By working together, overwhelming problems become winnable fights. Below is a list of common problems — if any of these have or are currently are happening to you, please contact Lucy Center for a consultation!

On the Job:

Money was withheld from your paycheck

You have not been paid for your labor or hours worked overtime

You have been unfairly disciplined or punished

You have been discriminated against for any reason

At Home:

Your security deposit has been unfairly withheld

Your landlord has been denying you essential services (heat, water, etc.)

Your landlord refuses to fix major problems

Your home is not meeting health codes

Is your concern unlisted? We’d still like to hear it and see if Lucy can help!
